Volvo Mengeluarkan Pelaburan USD 118 Juta Ke Dalam Kilang Carolina Selatan Mereka

Pembuat kereta Sweden ini sedang bersiap sedia untuk pengeluaran Polestar 3 mereka.

Dengan perancangan Polestar 3 untuk menyertai barisan pembuat kereta elektrik mulai tahun depan, pemilik bersama Volvo Cars telah mengumumkan bahawa ia akan melabur $ 118 juta (RM488 juta) tambahan ke kilang Ridgeville, Carolina Selatan, di mana “SUV prestasi elektrik aerodinamik” akan dihasilkan bersama dengan sedan S60.

Tidak seperti Polestar 1 dan Polestar 2, yang kini dihasilkan di China, model ketiga Polestar akan dibina di Amerika Syarikat. Ketua Pegawai Operasi Dennis Nobelius mengatakan langkah itu akan memperpendek masa penghantaran bagi pelanggannya di Amerika dan membolehkan syarikat itu membuat harga kenderaan secara kompetitif.

Tanpa terlalu terperinci, Polestar mengatakan bahawa Polestar 3 akan dibina di atas platform EV khusus Volvo yang baru dibangunkan. SUV juga akan dilengkapi dengan ciri-ciri penyambungan berdasarkan sistem infotainment Android Automotive OS asli Google, serta ciri pemanduan autonomi yang berfokus pada keselamatan.

Volvo Cars will invest an additional $118 million into its Ridgeville, South Carolina plant to build the Polestar 3 on the Volvo Car Group’s next generation electric architecture, under contract for its affiliate, Polestar Cars. Polestar is the Swedish electric performance brand launched by Volvo Cars and Geely Holding in 2017.

The Ridgeville plant currently produces the Volvo S60 luxury sedan for U.S. and export markets. The fully electric Polestar 3 will join the S60 and the next generation of electrified Volvo cars coming out of the same facility.

The global transformation for Volvo Cars continues with today’s announcement, signifying a cumulative investment of over $1.2 billion into the South Carolina operation with room for future growth.
