Peugeot 208 Dinobat Car Of The Year 2020

Malah hakim Eropah terkejut dengan kemenangan ini.

Peugeot 208 kompak semua baharu yang disasarkan untuk tiba di Malaysia pada akhir tahun ini baru sahaja diberi anugerah motor terbesar, pemenang pertandingan Car of the Year 2020.

Untuk 9 tahun berturut-turut, upacara European Car of the Year yang terkenal ini dianjurkan di Geneva Motor Show walaupun pameran motor tahunan ini dibatalkan baru-baru ini kerana Covid-19 di Eropah. Acara Car Of The Year (COTY) tahun ini disiarkan secara dalam talian.

Ketujuh finalis untuk COTY Eropah tahun ini ialah BMW 1 Series, Ford Puma, Peugeot 208, Porsche Taycan, Renault Clio, Tesla Model 3 dan Toyota Corolla.

Panel wartawan permotoran yang datang dari seluruh Eropah mengundi untuk kereta baharu terbaik untuk 2020 dan Peugeot 208 dipilih sebagai pemenang keseluruhan.

Hatchback Perancis kecil ini, yang juga boleh didapati dalam varian e-208 elektrik berjaya mengalahkan saingan hebat seperti Tesla Model 3 dan Porsche Taycan EV untuk mahkota COTY 2020.

Beginilah keputusan penilaian tahun ini: Peugeot 208 menerima sejumlah 281 mata. Skor ini jauh di hadapan dua kereta elektrik premium, Tesla Model 3 dengan 242 mata dan Porsche Taycan dengan 222 mata. Di belakang mereka ialah Renault Clio dengan 211 mata dan Ford Puma dengan 209 mata.

Kemudian datang Toyota Corolla dengan 152 mata, diikuti oleh BMW 1 Series dengan 133 mata.

The small Peugeot 208, which offers a full-electric version, collected 281 points and 17 individual top votes. With 242 points and the same number of best votes, the electric car Tesla Model 3was second, while the last place in the podium was also for an EV, the Porsche Taycan, with 222 points. The rest of the finalists for the award were the Renault Clio (211 points), Ford Puma (209), Toyota Corolla(152) and BMW 1-series (133).

Just a few days before its opening, the Geneva International Motor Show 2020 was cancelled by force majeure, the coronavirus outbreak, following an injunction of Switzerland’s Federal Council forbidding big meetings of people. However, and by courtesy of Palexpo managers, it was possible that the announcement of Car of the Year 2020 would follow its schedule for the afternoon of Monday, 2nd of March, and be available by streaming in YouTube channel.

Frank Janssen, the President of the Jury, was the conductor of the announcement and contacted by videoconference with the glad team of Peugeot managers, headed by the manufacturer’s Executive Vice-President, Jean Philippe Imparato.
